Hello and thank you for stopping in! I am Kristina Yoder, CT and former educator. As a mental health practitioner with a background in education and the arts, I bring a creative, compassionate, and mindful approach to the therapeutic process. My practice is rooted in modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), somatic body work, polyvagal theory, mindfulness, expressive arts, narrative therapy, and sand tray therapy. I tailor these methods to meet each client where they are, supporting growth, healing, and connection at a pace that feels safe and empowering.
Before this role, I spent 15 years as an educator in Texas, where I developed a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by children, adolescents, and families. After relocating to Ohio, I pursued my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Kent State University and began supporting others in a new way—through the transformative work of therapy.
I specialize in working with trauma, anxiety, grief, depression, school-related concerns, stress management, life transitions, self-esteem, and interpersonal relationships. I am passionate about supporting children, adults, families, LGBTQ+ individuals, and neurodivergent clients, and strive to create an inclusive, affirming space for every person who walks through the door.
A core part of my approach is mindfulness, which I have used personally and professionally for many years. I also integrate elements of nature-based healing and have experience with equine-assisted therapy programs. As a musician, artist, and poet, I believe deeply in the healing power of creative expression. Expressive arts therapy is a cornerstone of my work and often becomes a meaningful bridge for clients—especially those who find traditional talk therapy challenging.
At the heart of my practice is a person-centered philosophy. I believe in cultivating a trusting therapeutic relationship built on mutual respect, curiosity, and acceptance. Whether we're using sand tray, creative modalities, or somatic mindfulness practices, my goal is always to honor your unique story and help you uncover the tools you already carry within.
